SBC SUMMIT MALTA
Day 1
Day 1 started with a searing walk to the show, the action inside the venue started to heat up, with an introduction to the event hosted by the Maltese Minister for the Economy, Silvio Schembri, and CEO of Gaming Malta, Ivan Filetti, outlining their vision for the role gaming plays in the future of the country.
With a quick tour of the exhibition floor, attention turned to the order of the day – Matt’s panel. He took to the stage with three of iGaming’s brightest minds to discuss Platforms and Aggregators, asking if they are catalysts or constraints in the gaming industry’s future?
The discussion covered a range of talking points, from whether the current setup empowers studios or stifles innovation, to the role of new technology and the importance of localising products to meet the needs of particular countries and regions.
The first day of the summit came to a close with a quiet catchup with some SBC friends next to the venue, and after the alarm of a building collapsing on the walk home, the duo were ready to tackle day two of the show.
Day 2
After an exciting morning of networking on Day 2, it was Sam’s turn to face the bright lights of the stage, moderating a panel on the modularisation of sportsbooks.
With a range of technical challenges and exciting opportunities for innovation, the conversation explored what future sportsbooks could look like, and if modularisation will lead to the holy grail of personalisation.
The afternoon saw Matt try his hand at the EvenBet poker tournament, pitting his wits against the industry’s finest, while Sam joined a significant number of the delegates in visiting Hugo’s Terrace as the sun set on another trade show.
For Matt and Sam, the SBC Summit ended in the surrounds of the closing party, as a vibrant saxophonist cut through the night. It marked the end of two days of engaging discussions, with plenty of opportunities for education, relation building, and setting foundations for a number of new partnerships in the coming months.
